What is AI automation, exactly?

AI automation is the use of large language models, voice agents, document-understanding models, and orchestration tools to handle business workflows that previously required human time. Examples: an AI that answers customer calls, an AI that extracts data from invoices, an AI that drafts personalized sales emails based on prospect research.

How is AI automation different from regular automation (Zapier, Make, etc.)?

Regular automation follows rigid if-this-then-that rules. AI automation handles unstructured inputs and decisions: it can read a free-form email, extract intent, decide what to do, and respond in natural language. Most production systems combine both — AI for understanding and decisions, rule-based automation for the deterministic steps.

Which workflows are best suited for AI automation?

Three quick tests: (1) Does it happen many times per week? (2) Can the rules be written down (even fuzzy ones)? (3) When something unusual happens, can a human review the exception? If yes to all three, it's a candidate. Examples: lead qualification, document data extraction, customer inquiry triage, appointment booking, expense categorization.

What can AI NOT do well yet?

Workflows requiring real-world physical action, novel creative problem-solving without examples, decisions that require deep contextual understanding of an unfamiliar domain, or anything legally/ethically requiring human accountability. How large is the team?

MagicPixel is founder-led. Jaymit personally architects every project. For build execution on larger projects, he works with a roster of trusted contractors he has personally vetted. You always know who is doing what work. No hidden offshore handoffs.

Where is MagicPixel located?

Downtown Calgary — 330 5th Avenue SW, Suite 1800. We serve clients across Calgary, Alberta, and Canada. Calgary clients get priority scheduling and the option of in-person meetings.

What's the legal entity?

MagicPixel is the operating brand of NextPixel Inc., a Canadian federally incorporated company. All contracts and invoices are issued under NextPixel Inc.

How long has MagicPixel been operating?

MagicPixel launched as our AI automation arm in 2026. NextPixel Inc., the legal entity, has been federally incorporated for over two years.

Pricing, contracts, and guarantees

How much do projects cost?

Three tiers: Quick Start ($1,500-$3,500 CAD), Workhorse ($4,000-$9,000), Enterprise SMB ($10,000-$25,000). All fixed-fee, no hourly billing. See our pricing page for full details.

What's included in the price?

Design, build, deployment, documentation, Loom walkthrough, and post-launch tuning (30, 60, or 90 days depending on tier). Third-party costs (AI APIs, hosting, tool subscriptions) are billed directly to your accounts. Estimated in the proposal.

What is the 30-day guarantee?

If the system does not meet the written spec within 30 days after delivery, you have two options: we tune it free until it does, or you get a full refund of all fees paid. This is in the signed contract, not just marketing copy.

What are payment terms?

50% deposit on signed SOW, 50% on delivery. Retainers billed monthly in advance. Canadian dollars. GST added where applicable.

Do you offer payment plans?

For Enterprise SMB projects ($10K+), yes — we can split the second 50% over 2-3 monthly installments. For smaller projects, we keep payment simple.

What's the cancellation policy on retainers?

30 days written notice, no penalties, no claw-back. You always own the work we have already delivered.

What's a free audit?

A 30-minute video call with Jaymit where we look at one workflow in your business, identify whether AI is genuinely worth deploying against it, and discuss what a project would look like. No pitch deck. Honest answer either way. See our free audit page for details.

Is the audit really free?

Yes. The "catch" is that we use it to qualify whether you'd be a good fit for paid work. If you are, you get a proposal. If not, we tell you that and point you to better options.

What if my workflow turns out not to need AI?

We'll tell you that during the audit. Maybe Zapier handles it. Maybe a Google Sheet does. Maybe you need clean data first. The audit is genuinely useful even when we don't end up working together.

What industries do you specialize in?

Six verticals: dental and clinics, trades, real estate, property management, logistics, accounting. We take projects outside these too, but our playbooks for them aren't as deep.

What are the most common projects you build?

(1) AI receptionists for missed-call recovery, (2) lead qualification engines, (3) document processing pipelines, (4) custom GPTs trained on company knowledge, (5) email triage with auto-drafting. These cover roughly 80% of our work.

Can you do something unique to my industry?

Yes. The audit is where we figure out what's unique vs. what's covered by an existing playbook. Some industries have heavy regulatory constraints (healthcare, legal) that require additional thought during build.

Tools, integrations, and technology

What AI models do you use?

Primarily Anthropic Claude for text understanding and generation. OpenAI GPT-4 for specific use cases. Specialized models for voice (Vapi, Bland.ai) and document extraction. We choose based on the workflow's needs, not on which vendor we have a relationship with.

Where will my data be hosted?

Default: Azure, AWS, or Vercel depending on the workload. For Canadian data residency, we use Azure Canadian regions. We host on your accounts so you own the infrastructure — we don't lock you into a "MagicPixel platform."

What if my tool isn't on your integration list?

If it has an API, we can integrate. If it has CSV exports, we can work with that. If it has neither, we'll tell you on the audit whether integration is feasible. We have integrated with everything from major CRMs to obscure industry-specific software.

Can I host the systems on my own infrastructure?

Yes. We can deploy to your existing Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud environment. For Enterprise SMB clients, this is the default.

Security and compliance

Are you PIPEDA compliant?

Yes. All systems we build follow PIPEDA and Alberta PIPA. Workhorse and Enterprise SMB projects include written data flow documentation.

Will my data train AI models?

No. We use API-based access to AI models (Anthropic, OpenAI) under enterprise terms that explicitly exclude API data from training. Your data stays your data.

What about HIPAA?

For Canadian healthcare clients, we follow PIPEDA and Alberta health-specific privacy law. For US-bound projects requiring HIPAA, we can architect HIPAA-compliant deployments with the appropriate BAAs in place — this requires additional scope.

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes, before the audit or anytime sensitive info is shared. Send your standard NDA and we'll sign within 1 business day, or we'll use ours.

Logistics

How fast can you start?

Audit calls book within the same week. Project starts depend on current capacity — usually 1-2 weeks after a signed SOW.

What are your business hours?

Monday-Friday, 9 AM - 6 PM Mountain Time. Our AI receptionist takes calls 24/7 outside hours and books audits directly into the calendar.

Do you do in-person meetings?

Calgary clients can meet at our downtown office (330 5th Avenue SW, Suite 1800). All other clients work with us remotely.
